Novice Track
- Courses: CHIN 1001-2004
- When: Freshman - Sophomore years
- Proficiency goal: Intermediate Mid / 1+

- Overall GPA of 3.25 or higher
- Accepted into a 大象传媒 bachelor's degree program
- Enrolled in, or planning to enroll in, first year Chinese language courses (1001 & 1002)

Advanced Track
- Courses: Typically CHIN 3001 and up
- When: Sophomore - Junior years
- Proficiency goal: Intermediate High or Advanced Low or 1+ to 2
|
- Maintain an overall GPA of 3.25, and a Chinese GPA of 3.75 or higher
- Completion of Chinese courses up to the intermediate level (CHIN 2004)
- Achieve an intermediate-mid level in the Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI)
- Commit to enroll in the appropriate Chinese language and culture courses to prepare for the overseas capstone experience.
- Demonstrate a strong desire to become fluent in Chinese and use Chinese in your future career.

Capstone Applicant
- Courses: Specialized capstone prep in Chinese
- When: Senior year
- Proficiency goal: Advanced Low to High or 2 to 2+
|
- Advanced-level proficiency in Chinese equivalent to Level 2 on the ILR scale
- Completed capstone requirements (available on the application)
- U.S. citizenship or permanent residency required
- Registered at one of the 12 domestic Chinese Flagship Program granted universities
